NATIVE SONZ - Enter Da Demo

Demotape

So these boys are from Grassy park and took the time and money to invest in a demotape. I tell it like it is. The first track "An afrikaans cut is mos lekker is mos nice" is so surprising, in that I hadn't heard of the group before and the first track just smacks you in the head cuz its so instantly likable. They get extra props for taking on the problem of drinking. The other song on here is "Sometimes" which is an english track and not as engaging as the 1st. The opening bars have a piano loop that sounds like something outta Rza's basement, but then the music changes up. I was dissappointed when that happened. Maybe they should do a remix with that piano loop as the backbone for the song. There's a remix of each song and that's it. Damn refreshing, I tell you the groups out there better watch out, cuz Native Sonz is showing everyone how it should be done. I know I'll be plugging the first cut on Bush 89.5 Keep it up guys.

MOODPHASE 5 - GETO @ SUNSET

Demotape

This group comprises of an Mcee (Ultra Bazerk) and a live band (Boomslang). My boy Denver aka Ultra has been in the game for sometime and here he resurfaces with a cut that speaks on the situations in the hood. The struggles and hardships, without bringing gunplay into the story. What I find cool is that everything he raps about is real. He's not talking about things he doesn't know about. Musicwise it's not your typical sounding hip hop track. But I think its dope, from the opening guitar twangs to the finishing flute play at the end. They are working on a CD which will be released on their own label. It will be on the experimental tip. Hmm can't wait.
