Het Africa in the Picture filmfestival opent met de Senegalese speelfilm ‘Wrestling Grounds‘ ('L’Appels des Arenes’) , in aanwezigheid van regisseur Cheikh N’Diaye.
Wrestling Grounds
De in Dakar wonende jongemannen Nalla en Sory hebben niets met elkaar gemeen, behalve hun liefde voor worstelen. Hun carrières lopen wijd uiteen: Nalla is serieus en ambiteus, ook - ondanks de tegenwerking van zijn gegoede familie - op het gebied van worstelen, terwijl de goklustige Sory zich in een neerwaartse spiraal van kleine naar steeds grotere criminaliteit bevindt. Hun beider verhalen geven een genuanceerd beeld van het leven in de Senegalese hoofdstad én van de wereld van het worstelen.<< to Magazine
