In een combinatie van oprecht spel, levenslustige Afrikaanse dansstijlen, humor en indrukwekkende visuals vertellen de Soweto Skeleton Movers uit Johannesburg hun persoonlijke levensverhalen. Ondanks veel tegenslagen en foute verleidingen die hun pad kruisten, zijn deze vijf dansers 'unbreakable'.  Het publiek wordt door de Soweto Skeleton Movers meegenomen in een vrolijke en overweldigende mix van zang, straatscènes, meeslepende visuals en hun 'skeleton pantsula', een mix van traditionele Zuid-Afrikaanse streetdance (Pantsula) en 'bone breaking'. Dit alles wordt ondersteund door een eigentijdse soundtrack met melodische Afrohouse tunes en pompende Amapiano beats. Welcome to Soweto! Unbreakable is een veelbelovende samenwerking tussen de Rotterdamse choreograaf Lloyd Marengo, de Londense theaterregisseur Jonzi D en de vijf explosief-energieke dansers van Soweto Skeleton Movers, die hun bescheiden status van straatartiest al lang zijn ontgroeid en wereldwijd optreden.

In a combination of heartfelt play, a mix between traditional South-African street dance (pantsula) and ‘bone breaking’, Afro house, Amapiano beats, humor and impressive visuals, the Soweto Skeleton Movers from South-Africa will tell their personal stories that put their Unbreakable spirit to the test. Despite many setbacks and bad temptations that cross their path, these dancers are “unbreakable”. What is pantsula? Pantsula is an energetic dance that originated in the South African “townships” in the 1950s and represents a specific way of life and clothing style. Pantsula was used as an expression of resistance during the apartheid era. Unbreakable is a collaboration between Rotterdam choreographer Lloyd Marengo, London theater director Jonzi D and the five explosively energetic dancers of Soweto Skeleton Movers.
