Lubiana is een Belgisch Kameroense zangeres, kora speler en componist die Afrikaanse tradities verbindt met pop, soul en klassieke invloeden. Op haar nieuwe album Terre Rouge versmelten ancestrale kora klanken met warme live-arrangementen. De plaat ontstond tijdens reizen door Afrika en Europa en vormt een intieme zoektocht naar identiteit, achtergrond en verbondenheid. Thema’s als feminisme, natuur en haar roots staan centraal. Lubiana heeft haalt inspiratie uit Toumani Diabaté, Lauryn Hill en Lianne La Havas.

A collaboration between two bands that both see it as their mission to bring the sound of Gnawa to a global audience. The young musicians Hamouda, Amine, and Ahmed join forces with the duo SAMIFATI: Sami on violin and electronics, and Axel responsible for the visuals.

This concert is part of the Sonora festival. Sonora starts with Book Club Eu, where we will discuss the book A Quick Ting on Afrobeat by Christian Adofo, followed by a performance by Phantom Wizard and Samifati & Transe Gnawa Express.
