Honorary doctorate for judge and human rights advocate Navanethem 'Navi' Pillay (South Africa)
Mandeville Lecture 2016: This year’s Mandeville Lecture will be delivered by Navi Pillay, judge and human rights advocate, who served as the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. Pillay is awarded an honorary doctorate because of her lifelong fight against inequality, injustice, and the violence perpetrated against vulnerable groups, including anti-apartheid activists, political detainees, and women.
The Hague African Festival 2016
The Hague African Festival viert zijn achtste editie. Je kunt je geen zomer meer voorstellen zonder het wervelende The Hague African Festival. Africa in the City barst op 10 juli weer in volle glorie los op het Haagse Spuiplein. Ook dit jaar heeft de organisatie weer enkele uitdagende, breed musicerende bands en acts uit alle windstreken weten te strikken voor het festival: Oké Sène & Band (Senegal), Rabasa (Kaapverdiaanse diaspora), Zoumana Diarra (Mali), Mokoomba (Zimbabwe) en nog veel meer.
