Voor Sofa Session #4 nodigt Bozar Neo Muyanga en Dushime uit voor een gesprek geïnspireerd door de tentoonstelling When We See Us. Ze verkennen het thema spiritualiteit en onderzoeken hoe het verweven is met muziek en hun artistieke werk. In de tentoonstelling krijg je in het deel Spirituatliteit inzicht in hoe het dagelijks leven van zwarte mensen zonder spiritualiteit nauwelijks voor te stellen is.

Een diepere duik in de tentoonstelling geeft je de kans om kennis te maken met het werk van de Zuid-Afrikaanse componist en geluidskunstenaar Neo Muyanga, die het geluidsontwerp verzorgde voor elk van de zes thema’s: Het alledaagse, Vreugde en feest, Rust, Sensualiteit, Spiritualiteit en Triomf en Emancipatie. Luister en beleef hoe we zwarte vreugde, symfonie en gemeenschap ontrafelen via muziek.

On 22 May 2025 multiple award-winning photographer Michelle Sank will open her Ballade exhibition at Het Zuid-Afrikahuis in Amsterdam. The evening will include an opening presentation by Michelle, followed by an exclusive explanatory tour through the exhibition. Michelle Sank’s Ballade series pays homage to South Africa’s flourishing post-Apartheid society upon returning to her birthplace, Cape Town. She documents the vibrant fabric of Cape Town’s emblematic Sea Point Promenade, offering an exploration and celebration of its rich socio-economic, racial, and gender diversity.
