The artists: Beyonce, Jay-Z, Usher, Femi Kuti, Pharrell Williams, Ed Sheeran, Sho Madjozi, Cassper Nyovest and many more. The hosts: Oprah Winfrey, Naomi Campbell, Tyler Perry, Gayle King, Forest Whitaker and Bob Geldof. The speakers: President Cyril Ramaphasa, President Nana Akufo-Addo, Amina J Mohammed and more. The target: to mobilize the world against poverty, hunger and pollution and for good health services, education, women's rights, water in celebration of Nelson Mandela.

Vanaf 6 december draait 'The State Against Mandela & The Others' in de bioscopen
In 2018 is het honderd geleden dat Nelson Mandela werd geboren en vijf jaar sinds zijn overlijden. Tijdens het historische Rivoniaproces in 1963 en 1964 was hij een van de belangrijkste figuren. Maar naast hem stonden nog acht mannen die, net als Mandela, op het punt stonden om veroordeeld te worden tot de doodstraf. Allen streden ze voor hetzelfde doel: het einde van het Apartheidsregime in Zuid-Afrika. Aan de hand van recent herontdekte geluidsarchieven en gestileerde animaties keren we terug naar de rechtszaal, afgewisseld met interviews met onder andere Winnie Mandela en de overlevende aangeklaagden. Zo leren we de mannen kennen die naast Mandela in de verdachtenbank stonden. De film van Nicolas Champeaux en Gilles Porte laat zien hoe deze strijders de rechtszaak, die gericht was op het uitroeien van de anti-Apartheidsbeweging, wisten om te draaien in een historische aanklacht tegen onderdrukking.
